The ceremony hosted by the Institute of Meat is a prestigious awards ceremony and for CBT to win the award of Best Meat Training Provider is a real testament to the work put in by the team throughout the year. CBT was joined as an award winner as mentioned above by Kevin Meades, our Head of Butchery at CBT, who was awarded Master Butcher status by the IoM. Our Meat and Poultry Level 3 apprentice Tara Davies, who works for Humphreys Butchers (formerly of The Gogs), was awarded Best Retail Apprentice of the Year whilst former apprentice Daniel Turley, who works for Aubrey Allen, was awarded Best Meat Processing Student.

One of our apprentices Reece Nevard, employed by Walter Smith Fine Foods, was also present as he is about to complete and under go his end-point-assessment (EPA)  to achieve his Butchery Trailblazer apprenticeship standard. Reece said ‘ I found attending the event today a valuable experience and was grateful to be offered the opportunity’.

Reece Nevard

Reece is one of the first three Trailblazer apprentices to be registered for their Butchery standard apprenticeship on 15 October 2015 and is about to undertake his EPA early this year. If successful Reece will be joint first (along with his Colleague Stephen Maltby ( ) to achieve the new standard. We wish them both all the best for their EPA.
